As part of our Best Laptop Backpack post, we took an in-depth look at the Timbuk2 “Q” Laptop Backpack. It’s a mid-sized bag that is great for students and commuters alike. It’s Ballistic Nylon fabric allows for a padded low profile internal laptop compartment for full protection without the bulk. It’s also got a side zipper to allow for easy access to the laptop without the need to take off the backpack. A smart power brick pocket allows for easy storage of the power cables so you’ll always know where they are.
Despite the fact that it’s a medium sized backpack, you can hold a lot of goodies in here. Anything from books to clothing to some snacks, everything you need to keep yourself comfortable and productive can fit in here. Not just that, but it can match your style because it comes in the following colors: Black, Diablo, Indie Plaid/Reso Yellow, Night Blue/Pacific/Night Blue, Peat Green/Algae, Green/Peat Green, and Red/Cement/Gunmetal. Currently at a 4.6 star rating on Amazon.com, everyone else seems to enjoy this backpack as well.
The pros: It’s a really lightweight day pack that you can use for walking back and forth to school or work…perfect for a book or three and the laptop. Even if it rains, this backpack will keep the laptop dry (although things in the front might get a little wet.) A 15″ laptop slides in and out of the backpack easily. This is a great bag for people who are looking for something light to carry around on a daily basis but don’t need extra weight and extra padding that can come from the need for a more durable bag.
The cons: It’s a very thin material with some questionable stitching, so it’s not on the durable side. It doesn’t have a specific place for a water bottle, and the charger area isn’t large enough for some Apple chargers. It’s a minor con but lint does tend to stick to the material of the backpack as well.
All-in-all, it’s worthy of a Best Laptop Backpack selection that can be used daily. We recommend this for people who don’t need the extra padding and weight that goes into other backpacks.
